What is a Prayer Shawl? Prayer Shawls are hand-knitted or crocheted shawls made by parishioners and distributed by priests, deacons, and pastoral ministers of care. Every shawl is prayed over as it is being created, then prayed over by the group and blessed by a priest before it is gifted on behalf of the St. Charles Catholic community. A shawl is given as a symbol of love and comfort to those who are suffering grief, undergoing medical challenges, or contending with major life changes.
You are invited to join us once a month to gather together in prayer and to create the shawls. You do not need to know how to knit or crochet, we can teach you! Men and women of all ages are welcome. The group will meet every second Saturday of the month in the convent at 1 p.m.
