Today, the Archdiocese of Seattle announced the addition of a new name — Robert Corrigan — to the official list of Clergy and Religious Brothers and Sisters for Whom Allegations of Sexual Abuse of a Minor Have Been Admitted, Established or Determined to be Credible. District judge rules priests cannot be forced to violate sacramental seal. The law at issue in Etienne v. Ferguson, which was set to take effect on July 27, required clergy to report abuse shared within the sacred confines of the confessional. Click to read the full press release.

The Catholic bishops of Washington state and a group of priests were in federal court today asking the court to block a new state law that forces priests to face jail time unless they break the sacred seal of confession. Thank you again for your participation in the Season of Service – a way for everyone to participate in the 175th Anniversary celebration of the Archdiocese of Seattle. On May 31st, we celebrated the anniversary with a procession, Mass and a reception.
